Scaning and Infering Using Movie Rank

Scanning

Scanning is a basic reading skill. To scan is to read only the important things from a passage. When I taught scanning skill, I used movie ranking from imdb. Imdb is complete and easy to use movie database website. I highly recommend the site if you need to search for movie info's and database. This is the worksheet that I used in my class.

Infering

Inference is deriving conclusions from known facts, examples,premises, ideas etc.

Practicing this skill, I ask students to conclude whether given statements is correct or not. The statements should be derived from  the rank eg "Robert Pattinson starring Meet The Fockers" , "There are 2 sequels of The Twilight Saga : New Moon"
